Science parks are the locomotive of Taiwan’s science and technology industries. In order to create more opportunities for Taiwan enterprises, the government is now working proactively to contour science parks into advanced technology chains and bases for innovative industrial clusters. The Executive Yuan is also combining the efforts of industry, government, academia and research institutions to enhance Taiwan’s industrial transformation, raise national competitiveness, and bring prosperity to local economies. Science parks have experienced continuous growth in recent years in terms of both investments and total production value. The parks’ combined operating revenue was a record NT$2.325 trillion (US$76 billion) in 2014. When the World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report 2014-2015 placed Taiwan second in the world for the state of cluster development, it was an indication of the central importance of science parks in Taiwan’s industrial performance. For more information, please refer to the Executive Yuan’s press release.
