In response to the government's initiative on latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI), the Hualien County Health Bureau and the Hualien Armed Forces General Hospital conducted blood screening at Hualien Prison on February 24, 2025. LTBI refers to the presence of tuberculosis bacteria in the body without showing active tuberculosis symptoms. If left untreated, it may progress to active tuberculosis, posing a public health threat. A total of 276 people participated in the screening, aimed at identifying LTBI cases and providing preventive treatment to reduce the risk of tuberculosis transmission. This ensures the health and safety of all personnel in Hualien Prison. We will continue to align with government public health policies to safeguard the health of both staff and inmates.
