Class on Aboriginal Traditional Costumes

In order to promote aboriginal culture and arts, we plan to continue it in sustainable ways. Taiwan Hualien Prison would like to revive traditional handicrafts that have been disappearing. We open courses to teach inmates the skills of how to make aboriginal traditional costumes. Cooperating with the factories for the rag trade, we can train inmates by making good use of locations and facilities. In the future, we can run the relevant business ourselves and inmates can apply what they learn in the class. We can also achieve our skill-training purposes: learning, training, application.

Expected achievement:
In the skill training class, we teach the aboriginal inmates about their traditional costumes as well as the cultural meanings behind them. In the future, the aboriginal community can be re-established. An aboriginal costume industry can be set up. After serving their terms of imprisonment, inmates can apply what they have learned and find a relevant job on the employment market.
