We plan to cooperate with the local industries. At the same time, because of the responsibility to train people to work the traditional stone sculpture industry, we open ‘Stone Sculpture Class.’ Our inmates will learn the skills and later on work in the traditional stone sculpture industry. Or they could run their own businesses in the long run. Thus this development of industry could be sustainable. This is one example of our assistance to inmates who like to develop living skills. Hopefully more inmates will become interested in learning the skills. They could pass down the skills to their next generation as well. As a consequence, the arts of stone sculpture in Hualien are continued and promoted as we hope.

Expected achievement:
For those inmates who are professional, they will learn more about the concepts and creativity of stone arts in this advanced class. They could learn to sell their own art works to create their business. Their confidence will be rebuilt. They will find a way to create successful careers for themselves. Via the introduction of After-Care Association, they could find a job. In work, they can concentrate and develop their potential. We expect to have positive influences on our inmates who leave prison -- who can have a living skill and who can apply their skills to make a living and make contributions to society.
